Antigua is classified as a Small Island Developing State of the Caribbean (SIDS), and due to the ecological crisis it constantly faces natural disasters and its population is burdened with environmental impacts; For this reason, Ruth believes that strategies for restoration, conservation of nature, as well as disaster risk reduction must include people’s priorities.
In this context, she works hard to support community based initiatives like forest restoration, plants flowering for bees and birds as well as waste management, because she knows people, particularly women have the more innovative solutions to those community issues.
